Nature of Business
Valerian Capital provides collateral administration for funding agreement programs. To support these programs, we provide comprehensive services that include daily margin reporting, model creation, compliance testing, and ongoing support for active deals to ensure all collateral and funding requirements are accurately managed.
Responsibilities
⢠Publish daily reports for clients and internal stakeholders.Â
⢠Track transactions made throughout the day via email and incorporate them into the next day’s reporting.Â
⢠Continuously improve the tools used to produce and publish these reports. ⢠Review and provide feedback on transaction related documents (e.g., collateral guidelines).
Qualifications
Hard Skills:
⢠Ability to design, build, and maintain complex, robust financial models in Excel from scratch, emphasizing clean logic, scalability, and error-checking.
⢠Mastery of dynamic arrays, nested lookups (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), and logical functions to analyze large datasets without compromising spreadsheet performance. ⢠Knowledgeable in using VBA/Macros to automate repetitive tasks and transform raw data exports into structured reporting formats.
⢠A general understanding of fixed income markets and how fixed income securities work.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
⢠Working knowledge of Python.
⢠Familiarity with leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to accelerate code writing, troubleshoot formulas, or streamline workflows.
Soft Skills:
⢠Capable of anticipating customer needs and ensuring high-quality, reliable support for our clients and stakeholders.Â
⢠Able to work independently and carry a project from start to finish. ⢠Comfortable juggling varied, changing tasks in a small team with a dynamic workflow. ⢠Available during US business hours and comfortable with early starts to meet daily reporting deadlines.Â
Exam Sponsorship
⢠Valerian Capital will cover the cost of actuarial exams, CFA/other exams.

⢠Advanced Excel Modeling Exercise: A practical test assessing your ability to construct dynamic formulas, utilize advanced Excel functions or VBA for data transformation, and build a clean, client-facing summary tab from raw transactional data.Â
