Slate of Candidates for SVIA Fall 2001 Board of Directors Election

By Gina Mitchell, SVIA

On behalf of SVIA, I am pleased to announce the slate of candidates running for the seven open seats on the Association’s Board of Directors.  The candidates are:

Plan Sponsors (Two Seats):   Service Firms (Five Seats):

  • Don Butt, Qwest
  • Robert Fox, Cultural Retirement System

  • Jim Aguilar, Principal
  • JoAnne Davis, State Street Global Advisors
  • Jill Cunniff, Morley Capital
  • Bob Madore, T.RowePrice
  • Marc Magnoli, JP Morgan Chase
  • Tom Manente, Hartford
  • Kim McCarrel, PRIMCO
  • Jim McDevitt, State Street
  • Jim McKay, American Express
  • Ken Quann, New York Life
  • Greg Wilensky, Alliance Capital Management

This year 54 voting members made nominations to fill the seven open seats on the Board. The nominations produced 60 nominees: 13 potential plan sponsors and 47 service firms.

Service Firm candidates had an additional requirement to nomination.  They must receive the greater of three nominations or ten percent (rounded to the next higher value) of the total number of voting members who submit nominations to stand for election to the Board.  This year, a service firm member needed to receive six nominations.  The requirement of six nominations narrowed down the field from 47 to 12 individuals.  Eleven elected to run for one of the five open seats.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to nominate a great group of individuals.  A very accomplished slate of candidates has been created.  They will make a fabulous contribution to the Association and a most difficult choice for all you in SVIA’s election, which will occur shortly after the Forum.

Many thanks to our retiring Board members for their numerous contributions and years of service:  Jim Curry, Karen Watson, Robert Krebs (ex-officio), Susan Graef, and Bill Gardner (soon to become ex-officio)!
